HP48HOURS is This Weekend

Tickets for City Finals on sale on Monday

This weekend (August 25-27) is crunch time for entrants in the HP48Hours filmmaking competition. On Friday, contestants from more than 525 registered teams will gather at each of the eight regional hubs, where the excitement begins. Teams will receive their final instructions and be cheered on their way. Filmmaking teams have to write, shoot, edit and score a short film from one to five minutes duration over the weekend.

This is to invite you to cover hyped-up anticipation of the launch event OR to be there to witness the mad scramble that is the HP48HOURS hand-in, where contestants must physically deliver their films made over the past 48 hours. The doors are closed at strictly 7pm and traditionally there are a few who just don’t quite make it.

If you would like to send reporter/camera crew to cover the launch or hand-in, please let me know and I will arrange media accreditation.

This year, a controversial change in the rules allows teams to include stock footage or photography and existing footage (provided they have the rights).

ULTRA48 takes it to a new level for teams with 5+ years experience – they face an unknown mystery challenge. All ULTRA participants are listed here: https://www.48hours.co.nz/2017/register/?ss=ultra48

Also news this year – Jamie Curry, the creator of internationally successful blog “Jamie’s World” is entering a team this year.

After the films are handed in, there will be a series of City heats in each region, followed by these City Finals, to which the public is invited. Tickets for all City Finals go on sale on Monday August 28.
